Ever since our first season in 2004 we have loved connecting our neighbors and customers with fresh, nutritious, organic vegetables. Maine’s Mid-coast is a wonderfully supportive community for local agriculture, and we feel lucky to farm here. In 2006 we formed a partnership with the First Unitarian Universalist Church in Rockland, Maine, and with their support we have grown our CSA every year.
Our background before we came to farming was in labor organizing, and the values of organizing for social justice are still crucially important to us. By running a small-scale organic farm we create an alternative to the corporate food culture that dominates how we eat in this country. As organic farmers, we believe that the health of both our environment and community are integral to the sustainability of our farm.
The best sprouts we have grown are Elias Richardson Pluecker, born in 2005, and Cecilia Jane Richardson Pluecker, born in 2009. Eli plans on a future as a farmer and as a professional baseball player, and Cecilia looks forward to a career in roller derby as well as owing and operating a bakery/bookstore.
We look forward to meeting you at the farm or through the CSA!
