Fall CSA Week One

We’re excited for the fall CSA to be underway.  The fall crops cover a range of veggies that we all really enjoy, especially because things are beginning to slow down enough to enjoy them.  I think we had mashed potatoes four times this week, each time with a different sautéed green or mushroom atop!

The tremendous potato harvest was finally completed on Wednesday.   It was Laurie’s final harvesting triumph, along with Hanni, Kelly, and Bill, before she left the farm.  We’ll really miss Laurie’s sense of calm and her incredible work

ethic.  The Peace Corps is lucky to have her.  And thanks to all of you who purchased gourds from her last week.  Now, for the potatoes,  we just have to wash and sort them, and then we’ll get them out  to all of you who ordered a bag  for the winter.

We hope you enjoy the beautiful little Carnival winter squash.  This is our first year growing them, so let us know what you think!  We love how they look but are yet to determine what we think of the flavor, so please weigh in.

Hope we get to see all of you on Sunday at the farm,  If you haven’t sent in your check for the fall share, please do so this week or contact me to make alternate plans.

Be well,

Reba and the HCF crew
