Fall CSA Week Four

Despite the rain, mist and wind, we had a wonderful garlic-prepping, cider-pressing potluck at the farm this afternoon. It was our first time in eleven years that the weather forced us to move inside, but the hardy members who arrived- with delicious food in tow – were unfazed and got right to work. Thank you to everyone who came, and while we hope to be back out in the sunshine next year, we had a great time today. See pictures here

For those of you who love lamb, our friends at Two Sisters Farm (right up the road from HCF) will soon have freezer lambs available. The cost is $7/lb. by the hanging weight (butchering and packaging costs included).  A medium lamb is approximately 45 lbs, and the average yield would be +/- 37 lbs depending on how you choose to have it cut. You may select a small, medium or large lamb.  The most likely pick-up date will be November 19th. Contact Willy Ulbrich directly at 273-2842 or whulbrich@yahoo.com  with questions or to reserve your lamb.

Starting this week we will have shallots available for bulk purchase, in addition to onions. Shallots are 5 lbs for $25, and onions (red or yellow) are 25 lbs for $35. Onions and shallots will be available at the pick-ups or at the farm by arrangement.

Have a wonderful week, and get roasting! All these root crops are begging to get roasted up!
