Our big Monday harvest just wrapped up, and I’m feeling so very grateful for the clouds and rain that rolled in at the end of the day. Last weekend was brutal! We were so lucky that without a CSA delivery on Sunday we got to spend the day swimming at the quarries in Tenants Harbor. And the summer crops loved the heat, since we finally started harvesting buckets of summer squash and zucchini today. Time to pull out all those beloved summer squash recipes that we only get to use at this time of year!

Enter your name and email address under the pickup day (8/6 or 8/8) that you want to reserve a 10-lb box (the spreadsheet will save automatically). The berries will sell out fast, so sign up right away! There is a limit of one box per family, since we likely won’t have enough to go around. Please bring payment ($42) to your blueberry pickup, not before.
For once, it was a pretty peaceful week with the animals on the farm. Maple periodically causes a kerfuffle by deciding that it’s time to herd the cows into the barn, even if they are exactly where they are supposed to be: peacefully munching grass in the field. If only the cows refused to budge, I think Maple would soon grow bored and move on. But it’s just far too satisfying to chase them into the barn, give a final victorious bark, and then trot away with her tail held high, metaphorically dusting off her paws. How is it that a dog can simultaneously be so completely infuriating and cute? Thank you everyone who is patient and calm with her at the pick-ups. I do think she is doing better there, bit by bit!
