It’s blueberry delivery week! If you successfully ordered blueberries (check for your name on the list here) make sure to be at your pick-up this week with your $42 in cash or check (made out to HCF) in hand! If you won’t be at the pick-up, make sure to contact me before-hand about your pick-up plans. We can hold them in the walk-in at the farm with your name on them, but we need to know when you’ll be by for them.
CJ organized and orchestrated the second annual Hatchet Cove Farm Olympics last Friday (see pictures here). Events included the Plant Pot Stack Race and the Hay Bale Obstacle Course. For the less athletically inclined there was the Farm Poetry competition and The Veggie-Off (CJ would shout out a vegetable and an adjective and we would have to act it out…!). It was a superb Olympic evening!

The Apple CSA has been an amazing addition to the CSA, and we’re always excited to try the range of rare and truly delicious apple varieties at each delivery. We’re hoping to have the 2019 Great Garlic Harvest this Friday, August 9th. It depends a bit on the weather and such, so I’ll send out an email by Thursday with details. The garlic is small this year (not the usual huge HCF heads) and the upside of that is that it will be a relatively easy harvest. But we’ll be starting in the morning and pulling thousands of bulbs, bundling them in bunches of ten, and hoisting them up with a pulley to the third floor of the barn to hang and dry. There’s a role for everyone — cutting twine, harvesting garlic, hoisting garlic… we’d love to see lots of members there, so look in your inbox for details on Thursday morning!
