CSA 2020 Week Nineteen

Guess who temporarily mis-calculated how many more weeks are in the CSA? Me! The final CSA is not the week of the election, after all – the final CSA is the week AFTER the election! So don’t forget to come to your final CSA pickup the week of November 9th. Hopefully that extra week will allow the gazillion broccoli and cauliflower plants in the fields to produce heads. Fingers crossed. For lots of good things to happen in November.

Last week, when loading a crate of carrots into the truck, I was hit by the strongest, sweetest smell of carrot I have ever experienced. The carrots, like other crops such as the onions and the winter squash, may be few and far between this year because of the lack of rain, but the lack of rain also resulted in some seriously condensed flavor in the fruit. This year’s carrots have further confirmed for me that there is indeed often – if not always – a silver lining to most troublesome situations!

If you would still like to sign up for Sparkplug Farm ground beef, there is still some available, and delivery will probably be next week. Click here by Friday to sign up.

Have a wonderful week, and enjoy your fall meals!
