Spring Update from the Farm

We just had a great morning on the farm of transplanting kale in the fields. I even got to eat a couple stray broken-off kale leaves and I can’t wait to enjoy a whole salad of them! Click here for pictures of the kids and apprentice Katie feeling happy about getting to work in the soil.

The CSA is about two-thirds full at this point, so if you haven’t signed up but intend to, please sign up now! Even if you aren’t able to make your initial payment until next month, we want to make sure to hold your spot and count you in our numbers. Also, if you have friends and family who might be interested in the CSA, please let them know that now is the time to sign up. As part of our CSA evolution in 2015 we’ve expanded our membership and so we have room for new members.

So much is going on at the farm! This last week of sun and wind has done a great job at drying out some of our fields, and we are so happy to be getting seedlings into the ground. Our 2014 apprentice Katie Moeller has returned for another season with us (YAY!) and our next apprentice, Lindsey, will arrive this weekend. The two calves are bouncing around the barnyard like puppies. It’s amazing that in a little less than a month the spring CSA will begin!

Next month I’ll email each member personalized information regarding the first pick-up, but in general you can count on the spring CSA starting the week of May 17th and the summer CSA starting the week of June 14th. There are still spaces available in all of the add-on shares (raw milk, local grains, eggs, cheese, mushrooms, FIORE oil & vinegar, and chicken) as well as in all three seasons of veggies. You can access your account at this link or via our website to add on any shares, or you can email me with your changes. Also, if your account still has a balance and it has been a month since your last payment, please click here to make a payment.

Let me know if you have any questions, and we really look forward to seeing (and feeding) you soon!
