Summer CSA Week 16

The final week of the Summer CSA has arrived! Many of you are continuing on with the Fall CSA, but for those of you who are not we wanted to send you off with a good big haul to get you through your first weeks without fresh HCF veggies. To our surprise, last week we continued to have an incredible winter squash harvest. The pie pumpkins you get in this week’s share should last until your holiday piemaking. If they start to go soft before then, cook them right up (you can always freeze the purée until you want to bake with it).

Some of you received your honey CSA share last week already, others will get it in this week’s delivery.  If you want to still add a Fall Veggie or Add-on share, just let me know. If you have a balance on your summer share, please complete payments or get in touch with me this week!

Save the Date! The 11th annual Garlic-splitting-cider-pressing-farm-potluck will begin at noon on  Saturday, October 22nd. It’s always one of our favorite days of the year. So much good food, good company, and good work getting done in the fall sunshine. Bring a dish to share, a blanket or chair to sit on, apples from that ancient neglected tree you pass on the way to work, and spend the afternoon with us. We hope to see you all there.

For those of you not continuing with the Fall CSA, thank you so much for being a part of the farm this summer. It is not hyperbole to say that this farm would not exist without you all. We love the CSA model and being able to connect our veggies directly to so many Midcoast families. We’ll keep all members posted about upcoming Pick Your Own/free gleaning opportunities and fall bulk purchases.  Thank you, again and again, for being a part of the farm with us.
