We are very excited to offer yet another take on the CSA! We’re lucky enough to live near the incredible Oyster Creek Mushroom Company, and they are willing to offer a mushroom CSA to our members this year! They cultivate Shitake mushrooms using the traditional oak log method, and sell fresh wild mushrooms from Maine including Porcini, Oyster, Chanterelle, Black Trumpet, Hen, Morel, and Chicken of the Wood mushrooms, among others.
The weekly mushroom CSA delivery will consist of around $10 worth of their mushrooms (wholesale prices!). This will be in the range of a pound of mushrooms a week, depending on the variety. Sometimes it might be one or two varieties, other weeks a broader mix, and sometimes dried mushrooms might be included in the share. We will deliver your mushroom share weekly along with your veggies.
We know that mushrooms aren’t for everyone, but Bill and I once saw a bumper sticker that said ‘Mushrooms Make the Meal’, and we couldn’t agree more! If you are interested in joining the mushroom CSA, let us know and send your check for $190 (made out to HCF) along to us at the farm by April 15th. We will compile them and send one big check along to Dan and Candice at Oyster Creek.
